The Problem

Pussy Riot's NFT drop presented several fun challenges to our IndieDAO experts. The NFTs were designed to be mutable and very specifically divided into varying rarities, each having their own unique aftereffect and delayed NFT evolutions. Some NFT types evolved into a different type over time and others could be burned to reveal even rarer NFTs. There were also multiple allow lists with varying counts per address, across several windows. Finally, the entire project was to be completed in a timeline of about ten days, contracts and all.

The Solution

Given the timeline, IndieDAO roped in a larger than average team in order to efficiently divide up the work and pursued all four vectors (app UI, API, contracts, and image generation), keeping in close contact during the process. The high level of individual expertise and specialization of each person from our extensive Indie network enabled an extreme level of parallel development along shifting schedules and short timeframes.

We spun up a fast, scalable, agile solution using Vercel, FaunaDB & Next.js, as well as drop-in SaaS technologies to get running as fast as possible. We built a custom app reflecting the provided design to support the burnable nature of those select few NFTs that could be burnt, a delayed reveal to coincide with an ETH Denver event, and supported off-chain metadata and updates. All NFT images were pre-generated so we could ensure randomness for the reveal and give the client pre-approval of the quality/characteristics of the work before a final run. All in eleven days.
